This website is a resource and the Happy Hormone Cottage itself is an inviting center for women to get information and education on natural hormone balance. We offer the step-by-step process for women to get tested, get treated and get better. Consultations are available by appointment only. Women who live in our area can schedule a personal consultation at any of our three consultation offices (Piqua, Vandalia, and Centerville, Ohio) or schedule a phone consultation, if preferred. For women who live farther away, phone consultations are available by appointment.

Happy Hormone Cottage’s Step-by-Step Plan for Natural Hormone Balance
1. Understand the importance of hormone balance. Contact consultant at one of our locations to gather information about customized hormone replacement therapy. If you live in the Cincinnati-Dayton area, attend one of our events, such as a Happy Hormone Hour, to talk with other women and meet with our consultants.
2. Complete a personal history form and symptom review sheet on our website or from a consultant.
3. Schedule a consultation which includes a comprehensive review of patient symptoms; medical, personal, and family history; a discussion of the importance of hormone balance and the role it plays in a healthy body; and the benefits of different testing options. A practitioner referral can be provided if needed.
4. Purchase a saliva test kit or a combo test kit (saliva and blood spot) in our online store or at one of our consultation locations. The saliva testing fee is $240 and the combo testing fee is $299. Most insurances reimburse from 50-80% of this cost. If you are on Medicare, be sure to inform us so that we can provide a kit containing the proper forms that you will need to have this test covered by Medicare. We can also evaluate blood work results sent from your practitioner.
5. Follow the instructions in the saliva test kit or combo test kit (saliva testing video instructions, or blood spot testing video instructions) and send to ZRT labs in the envelope provided.
6. ZRT labs will fax your results to us and send you a receipt for your payment of the testing fee. If you would like to submit this to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, ask your practitioner for a prescription (click here for a prescription form- check to indicate the test you purchased, and ask your practitioner to sign) and send the prescription and your ZRT receipt to your insurance company.
7. We will call you for the name of the practitioner to whom you would like us to send your results, or if you live in the Cincinnati-Dayton, Ohio area, we can refer you to a BHRT-friendly practitioner. Find a doctor in your area, if you live further away. We will then interpret and discuss the test results with your practitioner.
8. You will call to schedule an appointment with your practitioner, who will go over your test results, discuss options with you, answer your questions and write a prescription for your individualized compounded therapy-often based on input from our pharmacist, whose sole responsibility is developing the doctor-patient-pharmacy triad.
9. Our Piqua Medicine Shoppe and Compounding Lab will compound your natural hormones. Compounded hormones are billable to most insurance companies* under 2 tier (brand) co-pay or 3 tier (non-formulary) co-pay. If not accepted by insurance, each prescription cash prices average $35—$50 depending on the amount of supplementation needed. * some insurance exclusion does apply
10. Pharmacy will contact you when your prescription is ready and provide a second free consultation ($50 value) to discuss test results, review medication use/application, follow-up policy and procedures, reorder guidelines, and answer questions.
11. Use your natural hormones as directed, keep a journal of your symptoms, and stay in touch with our patient consultants.
12. Contact us with any questions, concerns, or problems.

Why is the Piqua Medicine Shoppe THE place to get your hormone prescriptions compounded?
We are known for the support we provide for women who trust us with their most important possession- their health. Not only do we provide consultation services-both in person and on the phone-but we also encourage continued contact after you begin to use your natural compounded hormones. We encourage you to keep a diary of how you are feeling, and to email us once or twice a month to let us know how you are doing AND we encourage you to call or email us with questions.
After you receive your saliva kit and send your completed kit to ZRT Laboratory, when we receive your test results, we will call you to get the name of the practitioner where we should fax these results. Then, our pharmacists will work with that practitioner and recommend dosage and delivery systems specifically to meet your unique needs.
