Strategic Weight Loss Program

Our strategic weight loss program has the following elements:

Hormone Balance

Liver Detox
Glycemic Foundations Protein Power
Using Anti-Inflammatory Supplements and K-Pax Protein Blend powder
Eating Clean and Wheat (flour) free
Exercise

Phase 1:  Hormone Balance

The first step in weight loss and management so you CAN lose weight and keep it off is hormone balance. This is critical because most women over the age of 35 are estrogen dominant (have an excess of estrogen) and estrogen is a fat storer. So restoring natural hormone balance is the first step. Call us at 513-444-6343 or 859-360-6696 (Kentucky only) for your free consultation on natural hormone balance.

Phase 2:  Liver Detox

Detoxing the liver is an essential step in beginning a successful weight loss program, because it gets rid of all the toxins that have accumulated over time. This includes toxins from everything from the environment, to the makeup and deodorants we use, to the medications we have taken, to the non-organic foods we eat. Cleansing and detoxifying the liver BEFORE starting a weight loss program allows your body to lose weight. We have found a product we like from Orthomolecular called "Core Restore." (click here to purchase in our online store) Our women (and men) are losing 7-10 pounds during this 7-day Liver Detox program.

Phase 3:  Weight Loss (i.e. Lifestyle Change)

After the Liver Detox phase is finished, now we begin to introduce the elements that we are having success with in losing weight and keeping it off. Orthomolecular Glycemic Foundations Protein Powder (Available in vanilla or chocolate flavors) mixed with K-Pax Protein Blend (a protein powder with anti-inflammatory ingredients) and put into a smoothie makes a great breakfast. Glycemic Foundations Protein Powder is critical for stabilizing blood sugar and helping to prevent food cravings. The K-Pax Protein Blend with anti-inflammatory ingredients (Available in cherry vanilla or strawberry flavors) is also critical because inflammation stimulates cortisol release and this promotes weight gain. We need to reduce this inflammatory response through K-Pax Protein Blend as well as taking quality supplements. (see below) We recommend mixing the Glycemic Foundations Protein Powder and the K-Pax Protein Blend with almond milk and Deeper Greens Powder (click here to purchase) for a well-balanced breakfast. You can also drink this smoothie for lunch.

Eating clean is also key. This means no processed foods, no high fructose corn syrup, etc. but instead eating fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and fish, nuts (almonds, walnuts, pistachios, etc.)  It's important to not get hungry, so eating small amounts throughout the day every couple of hours is one strategy we have found to be successful.

An exercise program is also critical in a successful weight loss program. This is key for not only losing weight, but also keeping it off. This again involves a lifestyle change. We recommend working out 3-4 times a week for 30-35 minutes to work the core:  yoga, interval training, personal trainer, resistance training, weight lifting, etc.  A note about walking. Walking is a great physical activity to reduce stress, get fresh air, clear the mind, walk the dog, etc., but isn't really a good way to lose weight. Walking makes a good addition to a 3-4 times a week exercise regime.

Phase 4:  Wheat Free Eating Strategy

Continuing with eating clean, exercising, drinking a smoothie with Glycemic Foundations Protein Powder and K-Pax powder, taking the appropriate supplements to reduce inflammation is important in weight loss and maintenance. But the single most important element we have discovered in losing weight and keeping it off is eating a diet totally free of all wheat and wheat flour products. (click here to purchase the book, "Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight, and Find Your Path Back to Health" by Dr. William Davis). The wheat that is grown today has been genetically modified so that is causes a high glycemic response. Spikes in insulin production are responsible for fat production, so eliminating wheat from our diets stabilizes insulin production, and thus lowers glycemic response. In his book, Dr. Davis states that eliminating wheat and wheat flour products from our diets promotes a 30 pound weight loss over 5 months, as well as reducing blood sugar levels and reversing diabetes.  Jeff and I have eaten wheat free since September, and we have lost weight and feel good. Eating wheat free isn't as difficult as it sounds. We have found in the healthy sections of most larger grocery stores items made with rice flour: crackers, pasta, cookies. Most chocolate candy is not made with wheat flour, nor is ice cream or yogurt, etc. so for those of us with a sweet tooth, eating wheat free still allows us to have some flexibility in our diet.

SUPPLEMENTS:

Reducing inflammation is key in weight loss. As mentioned above, inflammation causes a higher cortisol response and this sets us up for weight gain. So besides eating wheat free (wheat causes an inflammatory response) and using K-Pax Protien Blend Powder (containing anti-inflammatory ingredients,) we also recommend taking Vitamin D 5000 i.u.'s a day and Fish Oil ProDHA 600 mgs a day.
